Stuart McMillan is a West Australian artist, activator and educator whose command of the visual arts has earned him international residencies and local acclaim.
His passion and expertise in photography, painting, drawing, music, audio/visual installation, sculpture and printmaking sparks creative expression and exploration within communities and classrooms.
He has exhibited in several solo and group exhibitions, collaborated on public art commissions, curated and directed exhibitions and participated in international residency programs including: Arteles Creative Residency Program in Finland (2017), Cottesloe Sculptures by the Sea (2016 and 2017), Brighton Jetty Classic Sculptures in Adelaide (2015) and Alexandrina Art Prize, South Australia (2014).
Stu has delivered workshops to learners of all ages, backgrounds, and skill sets. He focuses on creating engaging experiences that ask people to challenge their assumptions, open their minds, connect to nature and harness their true creative and collaborative potential as a pathway to building thriving, creative communities.
His participation in development programs out of the Warakurna Art Centre and with the Disability Arts and Development Association of Australia, have helped to provide access to a confidence building practice of self-expression in rural regions, and for those facing disability or a lived experience of mental illness.
